With a heavy heart, we announce that we must postpone our Saturday Event with Miry’s List due to COVID-19. There are over 25 identified cases of the virus in the Los Angeles County, and Governor Newsom is calling that all programs and events of over 250 people be cancelled in the state of California and all events smaller than 250 should proceed only if the organizers can implement social distancing of 6 feet per person, which we cannot do at LAMOTH.
We are quite saddened to have to postpone an event that we have been looking forward to, but we need to abide by the regulations of the Museum. Additionally, we want to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe, which we cannot guarantee at this time. The safety and health of our whole community is our utmost priority. We would like to assure you that LA Museum of the Holocaust has taken every measure to keep our staff, volunteers and community in a healthy and a safe environment.
Instead of hosting an event with a fraction of passionate, dedicated, dynamic civic leaders, we would prefer to postpone to a time where we can share the important work of Miry’s List with as many people as possible.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we determine the best time to reschedule the event. All of those who have already purchased tickets will receive refunds promptly. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to [email protected]
Thank you, and please stay safe.
[email protected] invites you to a private dinner event to meet and support resettling refugee families in a unique cultural exchange through delicious food and storytelling.
As grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, contemporary experiences of migration and displacement resonate with us on a personal level. Hearing refugee stories and learning about the experiences of global migrants today alongside experiences of Jewish people, allows us to consider how Jewish history and values might call on us to respond to issues today.
New Arrival Supper Club is a culinary social impact experience brought to you by Miry’s List, a nonprofit organization serving and empowering families resettling in CA as refugees.
Since 2017, New Arrival Supper Club has given thousands of guests the opportunity to meet and learn from their resettling neighbors through the universal language of food. This event will support new arrival chefs and give you the opportunity to learn, taste, and connect!
The culinary storytelling event will include a short talk by Bashir Kashefi who served as an interpreter for the US military in Afghanistan, and for that reason his family was granted SIV (Special Immigration Visas) which is a type of visa for refugees who served the U.S. military in Iraq or Afghanistan.
3G at LAMOTH is a community for grandchildren of Survivors who are helping to shape the future of Holocaust remembrance and education with a mission is based on memory, education, community, and social action. As a 3G group, we stand for commemorating our past, changing the future, and creating a world of mutual respect.
